What We Know About Love!

The word “love” in the English language is an interesting word. We use it to describe our affection for our families, pets, possessions, favorite sports teams, meals, vacation destinations, and the list could go on and on. One could say, “I love my spouse” and “I love my car” in the very same sentence. In today’s message, Pastor Darth shares five distinct facts we know about love as found in Scripture.  We hope you will join us on Valentine’s Day 2021, in-person or online, as we continue our month-long series, “Love Does”.

Fact #1 – God Loves Me Regardless of What I do

Ephesians 2: 4, 8-9 (NCV)

4 But God’s mercy is great, and He loved us very much.

8 I mean that you have been saved by grace through believing.  You did not save yourselves; it was a gift from God. 9 It was not the result of your own efforts, so you cannot brag about it.”

Fact #2 – God Loves Me Even if I Don’t Love Myself

Psalm 139: 13-16 (NCV)

13 You made my whole being; you formed me in my mother’s body. 14 I praise you because you made me in an amazing and wonderful way. What you have done is wonderful. I know this very well.15 You saw my bones being formed as I took shape in my mother’s body. 16 When I was put together there, you saw my body as it was formed. All the days planned for me were written in your book before I was one day old.”

Fact #3 – God’s Love for Me Never Ever Changes

Hebrews 13:8 (NCV)

8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Fact #4 – Nothing Can Separate Me From God’s Love

Romans 8: 38-39 (NIV)

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Fact #5 – God Provided His Love for Me by Sending his Son Jesus to Die for Me

1 John 4:9 (NCV)

9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
