Two Verses for a Successful Life
We all want to be successful in life, but what does success mean from God’s perspective, and how do we pursue it? Today, Pastor Dan will delve into Romans to guide us towards a successful Christian life in God’s eyes.
Christian success is the passionate daily pursuit of becoming the person God created me to be and doing the work He has called me to do
Romans 12: 1-2 NIV
Verse 1
I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy –
Listen up, Jesus followers – remember his grace and mercy to us
To offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God –
Dead to sin and alive to Christ, Jesus said, “Take up your cross daily and follow me” Luke 9:23
I want what Jesus wants more than what I want. Wherever, Whatever, Whenever!
This is your spiritual act of worship (your reasonable service) –
worship: Greek latreian, any ministry performed for God.
worship: Our heart response and life pursuit of honoring God in all things.
Verse 2
What part of the world’s values and culture tries to squeeze you into its mold?
Transformed in Greek: metamorphoseA renewed mind by daily God time, developing a Biblical worldview (Phil 2:5)Neuroplasticity: Rewiring the brain (by repetition of Biblical thought patterns)My Routine God Time (My Being) Place______, Time_____, Plan ________Is there a faulty or worldly thought pattern that needs to be “rewired” to a Biblical pattern to develop the mind of Christ?
Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is –
Holy Spirit Wisdom, Discernment, Understanding, Direction, Strength…
To know God’s plans and will, and His help to Do it – his good, pleasing, and perfect will.
Application Questions:
· How am I passionately pursuing Jesus in my life to be more like Him?
· What areas of my life (wherever, whatever, and whenever) are challenging for me to say “Yes Lord” to his good plans and will?
· What is one step forward I can take this week to live Romans 12:1-2 more effectively so that I am more “successful” in Jesus’ eyes?
