Loving with Words

We’ve all opened our mouth and put our foot in.  The Bible gives us counsel on the importance of our words.  This week, we’ll explore how we can love with our words as we continue the series “Love Does.”

Proverbs 12:18 (NIV)

The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.

Proverbs 10: 19 (NIV)

Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues.

Proverbs 15:28 (NIV)

The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.

Proverbs 18:13 (NIV)

To answer before listening— that is folly and shame.

Ephesians 4:29 (NLT)

Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.

Proverbs 16: 23-24 (NLT)

23 From a wise mind comes wise speech; the words of the wise are persuasive. 24 Kind words are like honey-sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.
