Royal Family 3.12.23
Over a decade ago, Wenatchee First Assembly launched a summer camp for foster kids in our community called Royal Family Kids. For years under the direction of Pastor Janice Hendricks, and then Suzanne Russert the camp flourished and was an effective ministry which actually led to at least two of our church families adopting kids and giving them a “forever home.” It was sad that through a series of circumstances the camp was moved, changed, and eventually dropped by a director who was not part of our church. We prayed about taking back the leadership but we didn’t feel we should try to recreate the past. We had also already committed to “Safe Families” and most of all, did not feel the Lord was calling us to pick up the mantle again. Still, all who had been involved were grieving that the camp would not continue.
Here’s the good news!! The Lord has heard our prayers and desire and has raised up one of our former members, Sandy Girt, who was involved in the camp while she attended here. She is now part of Sage Hills, who has given her their blessing and the Russerts have generously agreed to mentor her as the new director.
Royal Family Kids will return again this year to Camas Meadows and provide a fun and faith filled time July 23 – 28. This is a win for the Kingdom and WFA wants to do all we can to support Sandy and this ministry.
