God Won’t Ask 1.15.23
Jerry Beebe

So often we wonder what it will be like in heaven and what type of things we will talk about.   I know some who want to discuss with Daniel his experience with the lions.  Personally, I want to ask Barnabas what convinced him to take such a chance on the Christian killer Saul after hearing of his conversion experience and being renamed Paul.   Years ago a friend of mine did remind me of some things that God won’t be asking us on that day.

  1. God won’t ask what kind of car you drove,  He’ll ask how many people you drove who didn’t have transportation.
  2. God won’t ask about the clothes you had in your closet, He’ll ask how many people you helped to clothe.
  3. God won’t ask about the color of your skin, He’ll ask about the content of your character.
  4. God won’t ask what your job title was, He’ll ask if you performed your job to the best of your ability.
  5. God won’t ask in what neighborhood you lived, He’ll ask how you treated your neighbors.
  6. God won’t ask how many friends you had, He’ll ask how people people to whom you were a friend.

Our flesh is always urging us to think of ourselves.  Being selfish is not a hard thing for any of us.  But throughout the Scriptures we read that we need to prefer others, to meet the needs of those around us and to look after the interest of others.   May the Lord help us in the months ahead to ponder if we are using our blessings and resources to bless others.
