Deacons 12.11.22
In our system of church polity, or government, there are 7 members that are elected, by the membership, to serve as the official “Board of Directors.” These men and women have the title “deacons” and assist the pastoral staff in providing spiritual direction, serve the congregation in practical ways, and act as trustees for all church property. They provide fiduciary oversight, set the budget and supervise the financial activities of our non-profit corporation. There is no salary or stipend offered and they serve for a three-year term.
Our current deacons are: Steve Russert, Judi Maxey, Joel Romero, Tanya Tramp, Tom Owens, Janice Hendricks, Doug Gardner and Stan Smoke.
This coming year of 2023, we have 2 open positions on our board of directors. There is a process for a nominating committee to pray and vet possible candidates and then present one or more names for each position to the membership at the annual meeting which will be held March 5, 2023. As is our practice, we encourage members at large to suggest names to the nominating committee for their consideration.
This year the committee consists of: Pastor Jerry; Judi Maxey; Tom Owens; Rebecca Fain and Paula Kimball. If you have anyone you would like to consider as a board member, please contact one of these people as soon as possible as they will be meeting soon and begin the process of finding candidates to serve in this position.
