Summer Day Camp 7.24.22
Jerry Beebe

Last week was wild and crazy to say the least.  Wow!  The building was full of excited children as they came each morning to participate in our “Monumental” summer day camp.   Similar to the old “Vacation Bible School” the program is designed to combine fun activities with Bible stories and draw children into a closer walk with Jesus.  Pastor Allen & Taryn, along with the Family Ministries Team did a wonderful job in providing 4 days of meaningful ministry to over 60 children.

Each day the kids could choose from several tracks including sports, art or S.T.E.M. activities.   There were 2 general sessions in the auditorium.  One introduced an animal and taught interesting facts plus a spiritual truth taken from that animal.  The other session was one where Pastor Allen taught a Bible story.   Of course there were snacks, prizes and a competition of whether the boys or the girls could bring the most cans of chili for the Serve Wenatchee Food Bank.   I won’t tell you who won (you’ll have to ask a kid) but I will tell you that 325 cans of chili were collected!

As I greeted the parents and kids each morning I met a lovely your Mom with 3 kids.  She looked familiar but I couldn’t place her.  In talking with her, I found out she has been attending WFA the past couple of months.  She said her son’s friend had invited them to our “Easter Egg” hunt about the time she had felt a need to find a church.   They came the following Sunday and not only did her kids love the children’s program but she enjoyed the worship and teaching.   They’ve been here ever since.

Praise the Lord for the fruit of the labors of our Family Ministries.   We are blessed and honored to be used of God to “inspire lifelong relationships with Jesus.”    Thanks for being a part of this journey we are on with your prayers, giving and volunteer service.
