3 Useless Bibles – 7.17.22
There are lots of Bibles out there and much controversy over which translation is best or what paraphrase to avoid. I’m no expert but believe that throughout the years I have a definitive list of the worst Bibles that have the potential to cripple any Christian. Some of them may surprise you but keep an open mind as I share with you today. The most useless Bibles in my opinion are:
- The Bible You Don’t Read – You know the one. That one that collects a nice layer of dust between Sunday services.. Psalm 119 tells us that the Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. How many times do we stumble in this life because we haven’t taken time to turn on the lamp? If you aren’t in the practice of reading the Bible daily, you are spiritually starving and might not even realize it.
- The Bible You Don’t Know – It’s not only important to read your bible, but it’s important to know it. There’s a lot to be said about the knowledge of God. Knowing God’s Word intimately will keep you from sin. Teach you. Correct you. Train you. encourage you.
- The Bible You Don’t Obey – Perhaps the worst Bible you can own is the one you don’t obey. Jesus said in John’s Gospel, that we we love Him we will keep His commandments. Notice Jesus directly ties our obedience to our love for Him. If you love Him, you will obey and keep H8is Word
So today, I’d encourage you to grab a Bible. Anyone will do. Just make sure you READ it, KNOW it and Obey it.
