Psalm 118 1.16.22
Jerry Beebe

One of our members, Betty Liek, recently shared some fun facts about Psalm 118 that I wanted to pass along to you this week.   Did you know that Psalm 118 is the middle chapter of the entire Bible?  Psalm 117 is the shortest chapter and Psalm 119 is the longest chapter.

The Bible has 594 chapters before Psalm 118 and there are 594 chapters after Psalm 118.  In fact, if you add up all the chapters except Psalm 118, you get a total of 1188 chapters.   Look at that number.  You might be surprised to learn that Psalm 118:8 is the middle chapter of the entire Bible!   Pretty amazing, isn’t it?

What does the very central verse of Psalm 118:8 say to us?  “IT IS BETTER TO TAKE REFUGE IN THE LORD THAN TO TRUST IN MAN.”

I’m not sure who had time to figure this all out, or how important the fun factual information is, but I do know that the verse that is in the very center of our Bible (Ps 188:8) should be at the very center of our life!
