Happy Easter 4.4.21
This Sunday marks the most important day in all of Christianity. In fact, whether they realize it or not, it’s the most important day in the history of the world for every person. Jesus had been crucified and was buried. But…..not even physical death could defeat Him! He defeated death! He rose again! That’s why we celebrate each year the power of the resurrection. Romans tells us that nothing, not even death, can separate from the love of God that is ours in Christ Jesus! Because He lives we can face tomorrow.
As you and I place our faith in Christ, as we follow Him in the waters of baptism, we identify with Him and we receive newness of life. The Bible says when we turn ourselves over to Christ, in complete surrender, that all things become new. The writer of Romans puts it this way: “We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.” (6:4)
I’d encourage you this week to seriously evaluate your walk with Jesus. Is He the center of your life? Is He truly Lord of all? So often we want the power of the resurrection and we want “new life” but we continue to hang onto many of our old selfish ways. We add Jesus to our life but only as another piece in the puzzle. Our Heavenly Father is calling us, however, to make Jesus our entire life. The center. The core. The truth. To give Christ complete control of our thoughts, decisions, and actions.
This Easter, let’s do more than celebrate the resurrection. Let’s vow to know Christ in such a way that His resurrection power changes us, transforms us, and gives us the hope that we can experience new life here on earth and will someday be raised again to new life with Christ throughout all of eternity.
Jesus is alive!
