You’re Loved 2.7.21
Jerry Beebe

We all tend to be performance oriented.   There seems to be a propensity within us to achieve.   We like checking off boxes, completing goals, receiving certificates and hearing “atta boy” from our peers.   Those kind of things give us a “false” sense of love and acceptance.

From a Biblical perspective we need learn to accept that God loves us unconditionally because of who He is.   Like Dennis the Menace used to say, “Mrs Wilson doesn’t give us cookies because we are good.  She does it because she is good.”

Brennan Manning in his book, “Abba’s Child” makes a statement that I’d encourage you not just to read, but to meditate on.  “Define yourself as one radically loved by God.  This is the true self.  Every other identity is illusion.”

We can’t undo our past, we can’t achieve everything we might want – but friend, we can move forward with confidence that we are loved.  Loved, not because of what we do.  According to Zephaniah 3:17, Jesus rejoices over us with gladness, quiets us with His love and exults over us with loud singing!
