Merry Christmas 12.20.20
Jerry Beebe

Merry Christmas everyone!  It’s been an interesting year to say the least.  The global pandemic, racial tensions, divisive political culture and just an overall feeling of isolation, tension and anger.    But in reality, this is somewhat similar to the culture and time in which Jesus was born.  It is often in the “messiness” of life, in the confusion, in the doubt and fear that Jesus bursts on the scene with His assuring greeting, “Do not fear!”

I love this time of year because it once again reminds me of my favorite title of the promised Messiah.  In Isaiah 7 we read, “the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.”  That word means, “God with us.”  Hey, how much better does it get than that?  No matter what we are going through or facing, God is with Us!

The writer of Hebrews emphasized the same Biblical principle when He assured us that God would never leave or forsake us.  No wonder we as Christ followers can walk in peace, assurance and confidence this Christmas and into the New Year of 2021.   Yes, my friends, Immanuel arrived wrapped in swaddling clothes thousands of year ago.  That’s why we celebrate Christmas!  But He is still with us in our relationship with Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.   So, do not fear!

On behalf of your entire pastoral staff;  Pastor Darth & Jenni, Pastor Allen & Taryn and my wife Linda – MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
